Inventory Management Training in Congo, DRC

At the end of January 2007 Missionpharma and UNDP conducted a three-day intensive Inventory Management training course in Kinshasa, Congo (DRC). The training was based on our own Inventory Management software solution, called Missionpharma Inventory Lite® (MIL). 

This software system constitutes an important part of our contract with UNDP, where Missionpharma is selected as the sole procurement agent responsible for a complete range of services in connection with the distribution of 1.500 tons of medical products to final recipients all over DRC.

MIL is the only easy-to-use programme available on the market today specifically developed for inventory management of pharmaceutical products. The software is designed to assist drug recipients at a regional level to manage their inventory at batch level, and further to offer the data necessary for making decisions regarding re-supply of commodities. 

Via MIL the user has access to reports on stock levels, stock location, goods received, goods issued and detailed consumption reports per product and/or consumer. The data also includes information about quantity, batch, expiry date, manufacturer, carton number etc.

Missionpharma delivers medical products to 128 clinics and hospitals in DRC. During the next month, MIL will be installed at the first 30 subrecipients and installation at the remaining subrecipients will follow shortly after. Naturally, this calls for proper training in the use of the system.

More than 100 committed participants joined the three-day workshop in Kinshasa, which was arranged by UNDP.

During the three days Missionpharma conducted intensive training in the technical features and practical use of MIL with the invited subrecipients as active participants. Three test users of MIL presented their experience with the programme, thereby forming the basis for an interesting interaction with the future users of the system.

The workshop was a huge success. All participants gained a thorough insight in how significant a tool MIL is in connection with optimizing product and inventory management, as well as monitoring product consumption at regional level.
